Anytime people are destroying property that belongs to others, there should be police enforcement against them. Anytime there is a substantial crowd of people protesting on any topic, there should be an appropriate police presence to insure public safety.

On the 8th and 9th, respectively, crowd sizes were estimated at 10,000 and 4,000, respectively, by police estimates. Given the apparent hostility of the crowds, and potential for growth in numbers, it was competent to insist on beefed up support for law enforcement.


Also, given it is California, home of one of the worst governors in the nation, it made sense for the president to step in.

This is not over a "couple of blocks". This kind of looting and vandalism really cannot be tolerated. Trump is responding, as he should.
