It’s a dangerous play. There is a joke on the Russian site, during 18 th century everyone spoke French, then Napoleon attacked Russia, Russia defeated Napoleon. In early 20th century it was Germany and everyone learned German, then Russia defeated Germany. In late 20th century Russians learn English… -ggg- Russia considers Kiev and Ukraine to be its historic origin, and it never really planned to attack the West, but the regime change in Ukraine definitely crosses the line no matter who is in charge. Putin has his cronies robbing and killing successful businessmen who don’t bow to the tsar, but he has retooled Russia for conventional war, and NATO simply can’t produce expensive munitions fast enough. I don’t have a clue what Putin wants, he is 70, this I life expectancy for males in Russia. He might be in good health because he is training, but cancer kills and it’s up to God.

I gave up on Russia ever becoming democratic when Putin “won” his third term. Limits were set on how many times one can be President, by the constitution of Russia, but somehow it was rewritten and he sailed by with like 70% of the vote. I don’t know how legit is the vote. My best friend’s mom who I was close to lived in Russia (he lives in NYC in Brooklyn), she hated Putin’s guts and always voted against him. She could not understand why he could not let the people of former Soviet Union and tsar Russia choose their fate. The same with Ukrainians. My other US Russian friend won a green card lottery and moved to Miami, describing how the mob demanded ransom for protection from another mobster . The mob was increasingly Putin stooges. To be honest, I think God saved Trump’s life from assassins because of Nuclear War with Russia was imminent that would wipe out the world. It is considerably less likely with the right wingers and especially Trump in charge. The likelihood did not drop to zero though, but it’s up to G-d.
