The answer is neither. The main building component of the gold, platinum, iridium and osmium is lead and/or mercury.

The major building component of silver, palladium, rhodium and ruthenium is cadmium.

As soon as I can get around to it, I will post on the Internet (www.transmutation.com) an experiment in progress. An independent researcher, is converting mercury to gold and platinum.
