Brumar, from the article:
Several Russian news agencies reported that North Korea will now provide “a division of builders, two military brigades – 5,000 people,” as well as 1,000 demining personnel, according to Sergei Shoigu, the head of Russia’s Security Council. These units are expected to be deployed to the Kursk region.
Looks like the North Korean soldiers will be doing rear guard duty along with construction of fortifications and logistical support.

They won't be deployed into Ukraine itself, but they will free up RuZZian contract soldiers to do front-line meat-grinder work.

This tells me that PooTin doesn't want to throw the North Korean soldiers into the meat grinder, unlike his own soldiers whom he has paid very generously. It also seems like Kim Jong-Un can't spare as many soldiers as PooTin would like, despite North Korea having a freakin' huge standing army for a country of its size.
