Jon,

Vi is a modern physicist who is talking about modern physics, whereas you are entertaining some kind of religious belief that is more like eighteenth-century Deism.

You might enjoy Joseph Addison's poem, "The Spacious Firmament on High," which I think expresses your feelings.

For me, to create an element out of another element by using the laws of physics is more complicated, but not more remarkable, than changing a candle from a solid into gases by lighting it. One involves nuclear physics and the other chemistry. (And, yes, I know this is an oversimplification, but consider the context here).

Back to the less important subject, the stock market. Can anyone explain these gapping moves of the Dow Jones that have been occurring today?
