I looked at spinlaunch.com. It makes more sense now. SL is basically the first stage, launching at 8000km/hr, and after that it's basic rocketry. The first stage is what has to haul up everything, including tons of its own fuel. Pretty neat video.

To break into orbit you need speed, not acceleration. So long as they maintain appropriate acceleration to reach the breakout speed, they will be fine.
