I don’t think he, actually, offered any “point” - or, what one could read as suggestion of an optimal, constructive direction. I think he sees the Ukraine dilemma as being a lot greater than anyone dares to admit. Towards the end, he offers what he thinks politicians “may” use to explain the situation to their voters - but he doesn’t have much hope that it would bring peace or acceptance. He, actually, reminds the reader at the start of his “point” that this isn’t “him” talking. It’s something “they” - the politicians - may choose to say. He’s diagnosing one of the greatest and worst conundrums in history - but he offers no solution. Maybe, war is how it all ends? Or, maybe things will find a way to work themselves out. I think, no one knows. It’s like the entire human race is unaware and half-demented, sleepwalking towards disaster. This must be similar to the way things were before WWI. I posted this morning about the Estonians wanting to place nukes on their territory, minutes from the border with Russia. If this isn’t madness, what is? In the meantime, he thinks that Western politicians are supporting the ongoing war, death and destruction in Ukraine - because they’re unable to admit reality, which is the fact that they’re morons - and have misled us into one of the biggest and most dangerous fcukups in history. I think I’ll need to re-read it. Will comment if I have more to say.
