Olu, the reason its trading at 30% above it's 50 MDA is simple:

1. Look at the price 50 days ago -- it was clearly depressed as a result of an over-reaction to Asia;

2. It was only a few days ago that Dell announced blow-out earnings, and a statement that included substantial growth in Asia.

Result, we've had about 30 trading days of overblown Asian fears and 5 trading days of the market seeing incredible earnings.

Now, this highlights the tremendous pitfall in TA. It is a mechanical system that provides no insight into the dynamics of the marketplace.

If Dell were to stagnate at this level for a month or so it would cease to be a short by your reasoning (or lack thereof).

Regards,

Paul

Olu, I don't think TA is applicable on Dell. I would stick with the fundamental rules, namely:
- don't short on valuation
- don't short Dell
- don't short a stock which could end up on the cover of BW. look at what happened to INTC once Andy was featured on the cover)
Just MHO and trying to help you.

Good Luck
