Hi, Hawk.

Did you see anything about this. Oak leaves, like oak bark, release tannic acid when they break down. I don't think that tannic acid is good for other plants. I do know that the tannic acid protects the oak tree from fungi, insects, and some animals.

Tannins were used (and maybe they still are used) to tan hides.

Hi Hawk,

I printed that and will do.

Thanks for the good living news!

It has been warm and the garden is exploding.

Tomatoes and pole beans are growing 2-3 inches a day.

Life is good!

Bob

P.S. I hope you have a lot of friends , cuz with 4 plants you will get sick of eating them. That's why you will need a big quart box of zip lock baggies. You'll need to give away hundreds of those little jewels. If you like spaghetti sauce, let me know and I'll get Jan's recipe for Gravy. It is really good.

Bob

Update on sun sugar/sungold tomato sauce:

Sauté in olive oil, lots of fresh crushed garlic, fresh basil, salt and pepper, with some sprinkled in parmesan cheese.

Simmer and add more parmesan cheese.

Serve on a bed of your favorite pasta. We use angel pasta.

This sauce is a bit watery and light so it should be served on a thinner pasta.

Like many italian dishes, gets better with time.

We freeze it with a vacuum processor for a winter treat.B

Mangia!

Bob
