Moe and Brian- There are some remaining questions I have before selling. We don't really know to what extent the problem Motorola is having has to do with the software associated with their base stations or the switch. It seems to have something to do with both. The explanation is a little too facile that DSC's switches are not big enough. Doesn't DSC sell these switches to MCI for Long Distance switching? DSC has to be capable of making "BIG" switches which the article seems to think is the problem. I have been burnt by the guy who wrote the WSJ article before when he wrote a totally incorrect article about on how CDMA was a disaster and would never work. Two weeks later PrimeCo turned on their system in October 1996.
I would want to see some additional confirmation that these problems are DSC's before dumping. Has anyone seen any confirmation that Motorola is unhappy with DSC's switches? I have not.
