The tarrif imbalance goes back tp WW2. We were the powerhouse. We allowed it to help the European countries and Japan to rebuild.

Things never got rebalanced until Trump came along.

Qone0,
The flip flopping on tariffs is all part of the sales pitch. That tariffs are a good thing. Making things fair, we've been cheated ect.
Flip-flopping is a really stupid way of selling tariffs. All it does is create drama and instability.

That puts Trump front and center in the headlines, which he has always craved, but it kills investment and it lowers his credibility.

Even now, no one thinks Trump's "letters to foreign leaders" will matter one bit. They know that the TACO Supreme Commander is too chickenshit to follow through with his threats. All they have to do is wait until he changes his mind, which he will inevitably do once the markets sink.

And if the markets don't sink (which they don't seem to be right now), Trump will try even harder.

Because the one thing he HATES is becoming irrelevant.
