Jim, Good article. SFLX and IBM are the leaders in commercialized Flip-Chip-on-Flex technology, the most advanced flip chip assmbly technology. AFLX is right behind them now. CCIR IMO which was just acquired by HDCO does not have a commercial FCOF technology capability yet.

As to volume demand on FCOF assembly just look at SFLX's earnings last quarter. Tied to the dd industry, SFLX took a "nosedive" with the slowdown and overcapacity in the DD industry. But note this quarter by how wide a margin even on a diluted basis that SFLX beat its earnings estimate.

The improvement can only be explained by non- dd industry COF and FCOF orders. Indeed I've even speculated on the SFLX thread that INVX just mightlook at acquiring either SFLX or AFLX in order to gain an edge in FCOF assembly technology. The more likely guess would be SFLX since it is so much cheaper than AFLX- but AFLX on the other hand does 1/2 of its business inthe medical and telecommunications component assembly industries- something that SFLX cannot say....

But this will be a big playing field, flip chip assembly. If INVX gears up its new Litchfield Precision Components factory in Minnesota properly, then they will add $$$ to the bottom line....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
