The climbing extinction rate has been a topic of discussion for more than half a century.

Remember back in the 60's when people put bug screens on their cars to protect their radiators? My motorcycle and helmet take a tiny number of bug hits compared to the number of hits they took in the 70's..

>> Oh bullshit. The climbing extinction rate has been a topic of discussion for more than half a century. It might be news to you, but that doesn't mean much.

The extinction rate is not meaningful evidence in this context. And you know that. While there has been a small speedup in extinctions over the last 100 years, the acceleration is quite small over the last 50-70 years, probably not statistically significant, but most importantly, we are more aware of extinctions when they occur today versus 100 years ago.

Meaningless in terms of analysis of climate change.

That should be apparent to you.
