Sharkie,
A court ruled that he had to pay, but this appeal had excused him.
It's important to note that the appeal excused Lindell on a contractual technicality.

From the Post-Millennial:

BREAKING: Mike Lindell wins appeal in $5 MILLION alleged election fraud case (The Post-Millennial)
However, the appeals court has now ordered a lower court to immediately wipe the $5 million award. Loken said the judges found that the panel had "effectively amended the unambiguous Challenge contract when it used extrinsic evidence to require that the data provided was packet capture data, thereby violating established principles of Minnesota contract law and our arbitration precedents."
In short, somehow Lindell's "Challenge contract" contained rules that had to be followed. Those rules limited the software engineer's ability to prove that Lindell was FOS, and the appeals court decided, "Yeah, those rules have to be obeyed."

It is unclear to me what those rules are, but it IS clear to me that Lindell's "challenge" was basically a "I'll make shit up, and you'll have to prove me otherwise" stunt. One guy succeeded, and thus Lindell had to pay a whole army of lawyers a TON of fees in order to weasel his way out of the challenge.

Of course, the MAGA cultists are utterly incapable of thinking this deep. All they see is "Lindell won his appeal. So. Much. Winning!"
