I can't tell you for sure that this is a Turner Valley well. Area names are funny things, but but the well did go down 400m more than the Bearcat well. It looks like Shell et al own the rights from surface to basement, so they may have tried to test a lower zone. If they find commercial quantities of oil or gas above the total depth drilled they can always plug off the hole below that zone. I'm not to familiar with the geology in the region as to where each of the zones are that the companies are hoping for.

These wells are approximately 3-4 miles apart, so there is no guarantee that they are chasing the same geological trends.

As to the time spent drilling, the last well in my DOB post showed that the Bearcat well was spudded on 97/11/29 (which can be confirmed by the news release) and rig release of 98/01/03. Maybe someone can confirm the rig release for the Bearcat well is correct. If it is, the time spent drilling, the Shell well would be consistent with that of the Bearcat well.
