Surely these reassigned workers won't help MU's bottom line. Will Mu have a similar press release, dare I say warning?

here's a few comments for everyone to shoot at.

imo, this release is REAL UGLY for mu.

- xfering 4,500 workers to mu will increase mu's expense by up to $90 million per quarter. just what they need right now. . .
- i think analysts were expecting muei profits to help lessen the inevitable quarterly loss from mu's dram operations. on a diluted basis this isn't going to happen. mu has losses from both of its operations.

this looks like a potential "gap down" deal. we'll know tomorrow morning.

larry, this is horrible news for micron. muei won't bail them out eps wise. in fact, they hurt mu's eps this q. i think rich will be richer for holding onto his shorts. the strength in the computer industry was at least one leg that supported this rally. it is now gone. mu may lose $0.40-$0.50 from OPERATIONS and even more once the charge is allocated.

horrible news. horrible news. this game of chicken with reality may end sooner rather than later ;-)

Larry,

Here is a situation where MU sells off and breaks support today prior to a news release (that most of us had no idea was coming out).

But I would suggest that given the last 3 days of lousy performance some may have known in advance and kept it from the public until they and their clients can get out before the word hits the street.

One might say that F/A foretold this kind of negative news and we should expect a lower price. The T/A might say I saw something negative occuring to the stock performance in recent days and it was demonstrating a reversal in its price.

A very good email from Mr. Avery !
In case anyone is considering doing some camping this summer, please
note the following public service announcement:
ÿÿ
In Alaska, tourists are warned to wear tiny bells on their clothing
when hiking in bear country. The bells warn away MOST bears. Tourists
are also cautioned to watch the ground on the trail, paying particular
attention to bear droppings to be alert for the presence of Grizzly
Bears. One can tell Grizzly droppings because they have tiny bells in
them.

Larry--Something rotten in Denmark?
I find it very interesting that a BTO computer mail order
company would have inventory issues.Every company in the
business realizes prices are coming down on all components
every day and therefore don't keep much if any inventory
to take advavntage of this situation.
Is it possible that pressure form the parent to buy flat
panel displays and memory for {forecasted}sales that did not
materialize cause this inventory problem.
Did MU look at the 150million coming in on the sale of the
contract mfg unit and figure a way to move it from MUEI's
books and put it on MU's books while letting MUEI take a
write off and MU showing it as revenue?
Will the analyst who follow the company and put their clients
in both company have to answer these questions this morning?
Am I just being paranoid?
Something just does not smell right.
Regards Jerry
