Maybe its wishful thinking, but could this bring more attention to the La Plata by Cambior.

WSJ says Peruvian copper project on hold

Tue 24 Feb 98 In the News
The Wall Street Journal reports in its Tuesday edition that Canada's
Cambior changed its mind. Not long ago the company promised to develop the
giant La Granja copper mine in Peru without delay. Now it is putting the
project on hold and it will not proceed until the price of the metal begins
to rebound. La Granja, which includes proven and probable reserves of 3.8
billion metric tons, has been projected by Cambior to have a production
capability of 480,000 metric tons a year by 2002. That would be the
equivalent of about 80 per-cent of Peru's total output, an impressive
amount considering that the nation is already the world's fifth-largest
producer of copper. Cambior says that delaying the project will also mean
that talks over potential joint venture deals will be suspended.
