This is the same Barons that wrote how certain analysts (fund managers?) are shorting ASND with a vengence. What's the track record of the guy who's writing about CSCO. If he was good at picking stocks he would be doing it for a living and not writing about it!

Yes I saw the same article. Cisco is trading at the top of its normal valuation right now. If you are long term I would not be worried and I probably would not add to a short term position here but if you had a long term perspective on the stock I would continue to buy it even here. I have owned the stock long now over 5 years and like Cisco's competitive position better now than I did just a few years ago.

Growth for Cisco is going to be more interesting. They have been holding the high ground in internet hardware and software and now they are going to attack the Voice traffic business which is LU and Northern Telcom's primary domain.

Cisco is nimble and the "big cows" are ripe for picking. John Chamber's direction of attack is right on in my book. The margins are going to be big with the move to voice and digital on IP networks.

The entire voice switching network we now have IMHO will not exist in about 10 to 15 years. The "network" needs to be transparent to voice, video and data. It will all be on Fiber networks shortly, lots of opportunity there!

So many places to make money in this area! It just makes my head spin with all the opportunities!

regards

Eric
