Zeev,

<<They have enough money to do the right thing, cut taxes drastically, encourage a little more spending by the population, open their market and finally wipe out those banks that are worthless (and write down those assets to real value), so the remaining banks can once again get into the business of lending.>>

I guess the real question is will they? Why do you suppose they continue to drag their feet? I'm giving a brief speech at an upcoming conference in Japan (April) and have an opportunity to meet a couple of senior people from the business community. I want to phrase the right questions to them and am currently trying to figure out what that should be. These are senior guys with very large corporations and is an opportunity for me to get some first hand input. But frankly, at the lower managerial level, the feedback I am getting is that no one understands why Japan delays in moving towards the obvious. There is much grousing, usually not heard from these folks. Its all really quite extraordinary IMO.

Your opinion always welcome and appreciated.

Best,
Stitch

Zeev I hope, I hope,I hope you're right about Japan getting it together. The Japanese are a super people. They don't deserve the LDP and it's corruption. I pray fervently for all of us that they do turn it around.
