Daniel: Your son is very lucky because he has a valuable commodity - TIME!

I would suggest that he read and research all he can about investing, trading etc. If he is truly interested in it he will continue
to learn. If he gets bored of the topic he will find some new interest and save himself 300 bucks.

My advice? send him to the library to look for a few good books on investing/trading.

Cheers!

Dan-
I really did give him advice, to talk to you, his father. I daytrade, ie. look to take advantage of intraday volatility, I have no investment advice worth listening to except maybe this- a 12yr old probably won't learn anything by losing money, educate him about the markets then join him in an investment. Please don't let him get taken advantage of by running a thread here, think of the potentially negative possibilities. By the way, are you the same Daniel Miller challenging Bill Wexler on his "Profits of Doom" thread? I'm not a short player in this market but I find his commentary entertaining and refreshing, Good Luck, I think you're going to need it.
