<<I have never seen an investor able to time the market like that consistently.>>

Nor have I. When I was in g-school, my finance prof assigned the book "A Random Walk Down Wall St." as our first reading assignment. It completely picks apart timing the market.

My story with CSCO shows my style. I have made 2 purchases, the first in July of '96, the day after we had a real wild ride on the market. Prices got real out of wack that day. Got it at about 32 post split. The second was in late march of 97, when all networking was in the toilet. Got it at the same price as 8 months earlier. I still believed in the company, had more money, so got further in. So today I sit on a 95% return in 1 1/2 years.

My story is similar with intel, just over a longer time frame and not quite as well timed.

I agree, you can't completely time the market, but bargains do appear on occasion, they seem easier to spot then times to sell. But with these large gains that I'm sitting on and the fresh memory of watching my portfolio plunge 16% from October to December, I am trying to determine the right time to sell.

RE:Sure it would have been great, but everything looks wonderful in hindsight. I have never seen an investor able to time the market like that consistently. Have you?

My strategy for people try to * buy stock

Looking for a good company , buy a small (X) amount every time stock go down a (Y) amount , sell ( X/2 ) every time stock go up ( Y x 2) until
you got 35 % gain then go long .

vg

FOR intc Y = 1 1/2

do not sell at 5/8 will go hi-er

P/S or wait until i say " buy all you can buy " last call 68 3/4

do not sell at 3/4
buy at 1/8
