Rob, why do you keep bringing up the possibility of an Intel suit against IDT? IDT has expressed that there is no basis for such a suit and the architecture of the chip seems to bear out their contention that a very different approach was taken with the C6 than with the Intel chips. You bring this up quite often. Are you privy to some movements that the rest of us are not? Or are you just very concerned about it?

<<IDTI has some patent negotiation and agreement history with Intel and an IP position that should make Intel think twice about taking them on.>>

Intel should be worried about getting too heavy handed with the competition right now from a Justice Dept. standpoint. They've floated the Slot 1 as the competition killer and perhaps will not get more aggressive than that at this time, unless there's something vagrantly offensive to them. They've forced the competition out of the slot 1 and now they've forced them out of future direct MMX emulation. That's two major things that stop the competition from calling their products clones. With Microsoft's proposed support for a second MMX standard for the "other guys", the impact of Intel's maneuvers is minimal right now. (Plus the fact that almost nobody needs MMX at this time, but, nevertheless, MMX has been a huge marketing tool/success).

Too, for Intel to take on the new upstart would give Centaur immense coverage and validate their viability. Then if Intel lost a suit it could propel Centaur into the big leagues.
