don't recall where the survey was posted, but owning a computer in China was listed as being more important than owning a car. owning a computer in China was listed as one of the top three items to own.

actually the only thing that worried me about the Chinese deal is the negative you mentioned: the Chinese govt has been atrocious at keeping its promises to foreign businesses.
However,
I did read a survey last year that showed that Asians will chose buying a computer over everything but a refrigerator, a computer will come before a car, tv, phone, anything but necessary roof, food, clothing.
