While that is true, it does not mean they are not also motivated by pure empathy for the Ukrainians suffering!!

Which was what Steve said, and you recommended, and that sells the Nordic countries short!

To attribute it to pure self preservation really misses the mark, as regards the many decent people in the world!

As you should know better than most, during WWII there were many who fought Germany solely because it was the right thing to do, and helped the Jews at their own risk!

Many in Europe and Nordic countries have expressed this sympathy/empathy for Ukraine, over and over and it is real e.g. people like Ursala Von De Leyen, EU director, Sanna Mirin former PM of Finland, and current Denmark PM Mette Frederikson.

The Nordic nations are known for their empathy, kindness and courage!
