Mike <<Doesn't it concern you that the initial trials with Viagra was with only 12 healthy males, while the MUSE study had over 1500 participants>>

Mike, as reported by Pfizer, the Viagra NDA submission includes data on over 4,500 patients.

Mike PFE has used Viagra in over 4000 patients. The side effects are minimal. We are part of their investigative team and receive reports as needed from PFE. There will be a few restrictions on its use but will be a minor factor. Ask your urologist what the guys are reporting at the meetings. These reports are way ahead of the published data. Gotta be first you know! I'm very long on MUSE but it's important to be a realist. If Vivus doesn't get this product overseas pretty soon they will have a period of decreased sales when this product hits the market. No matter what the production. Ed

I think that most urologists and some FPs will not hesitate to prescribe Viagra for patients with multisystemic disease. Many internists will be hesitant. This is because many internists have more experience dealing with severely ill patients with multi-system disease and the complications of medications. Some FPs have this experience. Urologists obviously do (elderly DMs, etc.) but, since usually medical drugs are Rxed by the medical doc, they have not yet had the pleasant (G) experience of having a really bad side effect from a systemic drug. I guarantee, it's not fun and once it happens to you it makes you read between the lines a little more. Nothing like a few deaths or Vtachs to make you pay attention.

Nothing in this should be taken as disrespectful of FPs or urologists who have not dealt with these problems. All, in my experience, are equally intelligent, but there's nothing like experience to inform one's opinion.
