Yes. So do ballrooms and blinging out the White House to look like a whorehouse. Not to mention, the multi-billion dollar palace in the sky. The satellites perform useful services. Trump's vanity projects, not so much. Some might describe them as "waste".

and there are newer models already on orbit.

There are? That perform the same missions? Can you name them?

AFAIK, it is part of an effort to reduce expenditures on climate fanaticism.
