Sorry I missed this reply sooner. Unsure how true but a story I read said Trump had a call with the Swiss president with the presumption that their tariff would be in line with the EU's but the call went poorly and Trump lashed out. There's supposed to be a carve out for gold bars. Other than that what are the main industries exporting, pharmaceuticals and watches? People say chocolate but that's hardly unique to them and it's small.

If the tariffs persist it is disruptive to pharmaceuticals and watches. The watch industry somewhat anticipated this and American dealers pulled forward demand around three months of inventory. After that we'll see but the major manufactures have said they'll raise prices and will have to somewhat globally as well so that arbitrage opportunities aren't too extreme and maintaining stable but ever increasing pricing over time is key to any luxury brand. They never want to lower prices.
