" we need to be producers of goods as well as consumers."

We are currently producing goods. We also produce services.

<<<<if you do nothing but consume, and you produce less and less>>>>>

If you want to produce more - the policy should be to increase money for scientific research - instead of chasing our researchers out of the country and shrinking all government money for R&D. Why can't you put these things together inode?

We are a service economy.

Asia makes socks for $1 an hour.

So we get to buy cheap socks for $3, well until Trump put 50% tariffs on them!

That is better than us making socks for $20 and hour.

And then having to buy/sell them for $20.

That is the beauty of free trade.

I say, is any of this getting through to you, I say -lol.
