BLS is a survey, as such it will always be inaccurate, the actual job numbers are only known at benchmarks. Which cover April of the prior year through March of the current year. This comes out in September. This number comes from state unemployment insurance records.

ADP is real data from ADP clients covering 25 million workers across half a million companies. This is also put into a statistical model to get a nation wide estimate.

ADP is far more accurate than the BLS survey. See how it foretold the revisions in BLS that Trump had a cow about.

I don’t defend agencies that are too bloated to function usefully. I think this is one of them, no matter who runs it. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.
