Ah, I wonder if her family sends boxes back to the Philippines like we did?, one time it was 200 bucks a box and you could put almost anything in them. we sent food clothes and tools. one time I sent 10 Brazilian machetes I got cheap from someone I knew. one of the relatives stopped a robbery using one of those machetes. Most of wife's family lived In Batangas a rural area, one Sister lived in In Manila, her husband drove a beer truck. the other brothers in law had no jobs so that is why I sent them tools to work on houses so they could earn a living.
