Oh, she is wicked smart and understands issues around the globe. My point is that while she knows the issues, it takes experience to handle the nuance and shades of gray that come with complex foreign relations with both friends and foes. Jimmy Carter came into office with the idea to make human rights the primary driver of foreign policy. That didn't go over well with the CIA and the State Department, who were still neck deep in the Cold War. Other than the peace agreement with Israel and Egypt, I'm not sure many remember his foreign policy wins (normalizing China relations in 1979 was really started by Nixon). She also doesn't talk about the fiscal deficit, which kind of walls off about 40% of the electorate from her. Her ideas for funding programs are basically "Tax the Rich." This is a populist approach, but it is hardly a broad-based and effective solution to everything. I mean, the Rolling Stones moved to France to escape British taxes (producing Exile on Main Street, so thanks Great Britain). U-2 pays almost no tax, using tax loopholes in Ireland and the Netherlands while begging people to forgive developing country debt. Of course, the Beatles gave us "Taxman." Wealthy people find ways around excessive taxation. Finally, throwing barbs from the cheap seats and actually governing are two different things that require different skill sets. We've not seen AOC's executive skills that would be used in governing a company, a community, or a state. That would need to be developed and proven for her to be an actual effective leader.
