The movie is iconic, particularly in the way the script was stolen from syndicated humor columnist, Art Buchwald.

He did the original screenplay. Paramount got it, and ran with it. They just forgot to tell Art.

He sued and won $900,000 after a long process. Paramount was trying to demonstrate that while the movie grossed $288-million worldwide, the studio made nothing on the movie, so they couldn't pay Art a dime. The court laughed out loud.

It was one of the most public embarrassments of any movie studio in history.

Other than "Bowfinger," nothing Eddie Murphy has done comedic since has been as good as this movie.

He was like Orson Welles (to quote Evan from "Superbad"), he peaked too soon.
