They don't realize that PooTin doesn't give a shit about a few hundred square kilometers of land. There is no game clock that is counting down to zero. There is no race to seize as much land as possible in a limited time frame. Whatever extra territory RuZZia wants to seize ahead of ceasefire negotiations is irrelevant, because they don't make one bit of a difference. PooTin wants ALL of Ukraine. Any outcome where Ukraine remains a viable, sovereign, and democratically-aligned state is an existential threat to RuZZia, according to PooTin logic. However, PooTin's strategy isn't to achieve that goal through territorial gains. Instead, his strategy is strictly political. He wants to politically destabilize Ukraine so that he and his puppets can come in and take over the nation. Toward that goal, he wants to get NATO to give up on giving military and financial aid to Ukraine. And he wants to achieve that by pushing a narrative of an "unstoppable RuZZian juggernaut." That's why his forces continue to push hard, even though they suffer astronomically high human casualties. It also helps to see constant reports of "Ukrainian manpower shortages," even though said shortages is actually a strategic decision by Ukraine to conserve manpower and trade land for dead RuZZians. Hence, when the NYTimes sports the headline, "What Russia Is Doing to Grab Ukrainian Land While It Still Can," I shake my head because they have no idea what "while it still can" really means. "While it still can" doesn't refer to some sort of game clock. Instead, it refers to PooTin's continued willingness to fight. And he sees no need to stop. None at all. It's all up to him, which is another reason why the Alaska summit was super-weird. One doesn't claim to be all for peace while continuing a war that one can stop at any given moment. Tenchusatsu
