Bill, from the CBO projection:
We project that increases in tariffs implemented during the period from January 6, 2025, to August 19 will decrease primary deficits (which exclude net outlays for interest) by $3.3 trillion if the higher tariffs persist for the 2025?2035 period.
That conditional will NOT hold true, 100% guaranteed. Trump can't settle on any consistent tariff policy, and he never will. He's too enamored by the effect they have, both positive and negative, and the financial effects are impossible to quantitatively predict.

But hey, if you want to take these numbers as gospel, then consider this. Reducing the deficit by $3.3T over 10 years is nothing. That represents only 15% of the total deficit, which barely makes up for the huge increase that Trump is responsible for.
