If incremental changes can save SS, that will be the way to go. Unfortunately, the numbers might not support those gradual steps.

Years ago there was a wage cap for Medicare contributions. It was removed entirely to save the program. I would be surprised (in this age of screw the rich) if the same isn’t done with SS.
