Azov was brought in to cut off the salient before the RuZZians could fortify themselves and establish supply lines. Here's a bit of background on the initial "breakthrough" by RuZZia. They've changed their overall strategy from meat waves and armored assaults to small groups of infantry, even as small as two or three soldiers per group, trying to sneak past drone surveillance. They make use of the cover of night along with special blankets that hide them from infrared sensors in order to walk behind enemy lines. Then when they emerge, they can cause chaos among the entrenched Ukrainian defenders. This particular salient emerged as RuZZian soldiers discovered that a lot of Ukrainian fortifications were either unmanned or undermanned. It was a rare break in Ukrainian defenses that RuZZia exploited and kept exploiting, which resulted in the 10 km salient. Once the salient was captured, news of that was quickly disseminated across RuZZian propaganda networks and reached the mainstream media, who reported on the "breakthrough." However, RuZZia failed to follow through with the "breakthrough." They were too slow in flooding the zone with men, armored vehicles, and jeeps, too slow in establishing supply lines, even with the use of drones, and too slow in causing any further collapse in the Ukrainian front lines. Logistical challenges are probably the main reason why, but I also believe RuZZian war doctrine still cannot adapt to a more mobile battlefield. Meanwhile Ukraine is faster at adapting and responding with swiftness. They used their elite battle units such as Azov to counterattack and take full advantage of isolated RuZZian troop concentrations. The results speak for themselves. The RuZZians who tried to flood the salient ended up in a death trap. Ukraine turned RuZZia's momentum against themselves. And as RFU YouTube reports, there's even a strong possibility that Azov can fully slice off the overall RuZZian salient and even end up with more territory under Ukrainian control than just before the "breakthrough." Whether that happens or not depends on what Ukraine's high command decides, but I suspect Ukraine will take whatever opportunities present themselves.VIDEO Tenchusatsu
