Richard,
I got smashed down pretty hard last year, and portfolio size ended up by year end at 1/3 of the value that it had at the high point, but still only down for a year loss of 5%.

I hung on with twice as much margin as my portfolio equity. It's looking good now, but a person had hang in there and wait for the sunshine. Sure glad that I didn't loose all my chips, because then you can't this monopoly game.

What did I learn? I will not increase my margin unless my equity is at least at 65%. At the high portfolio value point, my equity was close to 40%, and huge margin calls followed when the dip came. I think you may have experienced this also.
