The open interest is smaller than the volume today on most of the calls for the Aug. 29 expiration on UUUU. A gamma squeeze appears to have been going on after the open this morning on UUUU, with algo call buying pushing up the price frantically. With all the volume on weekly options and action on zero day options, I have not found Max Pain useful at all the past year or more. Options are dynamically hedged by software the instant they are opened, which has been rendering Max Pain rather useless these days. Sorry, I don't have a better answer.
