>>I did not like the news about the Duch ruling<<

I don't think it's realistic to expect IOM to be 100% successful in all parts of the world in protecting itself from unfair competition. This picnic is just too big not to have some ants trying to crash it. A few revenue leaks will not prevent IOM from growing earnings at an impressive rate. Name one fashion house that does not have problems with Asian counterfeits.

I doubt Nomai's successes to date equate to IOM's failure in the future. Zip is just one product in a growing line of products. The current patent battles should serve as valuable intelligence on how to better protect future products.

The zip disk battle is far from over. Zip disks generate a lot of profit with which to tie up potential competitors in courts throughout the world for a long time. At some point it makes a lot more sense to become a licensed manufacturer than to spend tons of money on an uncertain outcome.

Don't be surprised if IOM shows up as a buy on your new program.

Good luck,

Les

Rob, Sorry to see you desert this puppy. I still think IOM's in the "teen age" phase with "braces", "pimples", and "emotional problems",(ups and downs.) Maturity will set in at the end of the year esp. when new products come on stream, law suits are settled, and the results of the ad campaign will be visible. Furthermore, competition (SYQT) will fade as they are struggling big time in the red and they have a steep hill to climb to even make a difference. I don't think IOM will earn .14 in he next Q, just making the analysts average estimate will be fine with me. The announcement by IBM to include ZIP in Aptiva in Japan is a major coup. SR
