Eric, the last time I charged my car at a ChargePoint station, I had to pay 60 cents per kWh.

My car has a 6 kWh battery capacity for EV-only mode. (The battery capacity is actually 8 kWh, but at 25%, the car switches to hybrid mode.)

The range of my car in EV-only mode is around 26 miles. In hybrid mode, I can get about 48 MPG, so a full charge in EV-only mode nets me the equivalent of 0.54 gallons of gas.

Gas in my area is around $4-$5/gallon. Let's go with $5/gallon.

0.54 gallons of gas at that price is $2.70.

6 kWh of energy from ChargePoint is $3.60, so I'm essentially paying 90 cents more by driving in EV-only mode vs. hybrid mode.

Now I know that ChargePoint charges a premium for electricity, because I'm also paying for the fact that there is a charger there at the parking lot.

And I haven't yet looked at my home utility bill to see how much I'm paying per kWh for electricity. But PG&E makes that info kind of hard to figure out given all the crazy-ass fees.

All I know right now is that PG&E bill is also much higher than it used to be.

This is the kind of stuff that everyday people have to deal with. Democrats should focus on that, because Trump won't. Instead, Trump will claim that gas is $1.98/gallon, and his MAGA cultists will believe that as they pay almost twice as much.
