Blocking the sale of an inferior chip making facility? Who would even want it, especially if it continued to operate under the existing management? Paul Krugman, the Nobel laureate had a better explanation in a recent interview on MSNBC. He saw an opportunity for the administration to demand that customers buy Intel made chips if they wanted to sell stuff to the government. A loss for taxpayers as well as existing Intel shareholders.
