Robert et al - There is a very good overview of the biotech industry in a special section of this week's Economist. It doesn't spend much time on diagnostics per se, but it does spend a lot of time on the ways in which the big companies outsource their R&D, and the reasons for it. It also spends a lot of time describing the basic changes in the way new medicines are found and put through clinical trials. (This last may not be pertinent to Quidel directly, but it makes for interesting reading.) Clark
