Wrong. If you caught measles, you had a 1-in-1000 chance of dying due to complications arising from the infection.

There was also a 1-in-1000 chance of getting permanent brain damage. (Maybe that's what happened to you.)

With 500K new cases of measles reported every year before the vaccine, those numbers are not something you can simply ignore. A kid from newborn to adulthood is rolling the dice every year.
