Plausibly but maybe not. Their centuries of defensiveness/fear followed by a couple of decades of hope followed by decades of military supremacy over their current main oppressors has given them a crazy sense of invincibility. Lunatic egotists are making national decisions in way too many countries these days. They don't even know that they are lunatic, I think that they believe themselves to be superior beings who are perfectly able to make big decisions that dictate the fate of their own and others' countries. There are very good reasons why we limit presidents to two terms and why every country should adopt a policy that is something very similar to that. re: All of this falls apart if Israel loses all or even part of US support. Could this happen?
