WCOM pays for it using stock. That's why they have very little debt. WCOM can afford ATI easily.

Ibexx, Thanks for the input. As always, I take it seriously and would do well to heed it (my strategy has not changed, though I must admit my returns would come quicker if this happened). I agree, ATI would likely do as well or better in the long run without a merger. It is fun to speculate, though. As you know, I have a hard time taking myself too seriously. ATI + WCOM would be a powerhouse, and after seeing what WCOM did with MCI, you gotta believe they have the gonads to try to do what they want. Regards, Dave

My guess would be Nextel in spite of the profitability statement.
