The iPhone 17 pro claims a neural processing unit with LLM access, in a presentation that ended shortly after 2 pm eastern time. They also claim their new cameras are better than the competition. Too much hype or real improvement?

As expected, Biased Apple rah rah reporting. Press calls out their modem in Air but nary a mention of the QCOM inside the 17/Pro. Nothing to see here, move along.

“The Air also comes with Apple's N1 chip for wireless and bluetooth, as well as its C1X modem, which Apple says uses 30% less power.”

It's all about the customer and we learned long ago, they care little as to the details to which you speak.

C1 is gôôd ênôugh. It's a phone and beyond connection all that matters is how long does it last before needing to be charged.

One can't really blame Apple for going down this road. When the issues you and engineer mention arise, it's a network problem. That's where we're at.

What really matters here is they're sure to continue down this path and charge +3x for that which is more than good enough (ie making the modem the totally immaterial part of their phones).

Is the above the basis of their next device royalty challenge? It's a good story.

ps isn't it already too late to cut the cord?

yea I noticed the same. they just go with the "oh wow" set of tests given to them by Apple PR and call it a study.
