Maybe the doors weren't locked and it's a simple as the panicked rescuers not figuring out the handles? They are non-intuitive. I have to show people new to Teslas how to get into my car. when they're not under stress. I would think those inside could get out even if unfamiliar but maybe they were dazed or unconscious.

This also caught my attention. A shattered window?

Anyway, these stupid door handles (not just Tesla) need to be reeaxamined.
