Forgot to add if ever in SIN and want to sell physical metal I can highly recommend this place. bullionstar.com

They even have a small XRF spectrometer on site so junk jewelry is accepted and paid fair prices when I dealt there. It's within walking distance of Clarke Quay but they don't keep the most generous business hours.

In BKK for the best prices you have to go to Chinatown. There's maybe 2-3 top dealers that are family owned (Thai-Chinese), that have been in business for 100+ years! Unless you can speak Thai very well and are a shrewd negotiator I'd recommend a trusted Thai person visiting on your behalf without your presence. :-)

Also Thai gold bullion is kind of its own thing, they have the baht bars, and then the Swiss bars. And traditional Thai gold jewelry is normally 22 or 23 karat. They'll pay you close to fair if pure gold bars or coins like Maple Leafs, most Aussie bullion, Buffaloes, Philharmonic, etc. But show up with Eagles or Krugerrands and they'll try and nickel-and-dime you. The SIN experience at link above is fairer and more straightforward. fwiw.
