As an aside, right after the fall of the Soviet Union, the EU got flooded with adulterated meat. Seems the old Eastern Bloc wanted to upgrade from horse-drawn plows and carts. So the demand for horses and mules was much reduced. There was quite the scandal because Eastern Bloc veterinary medicines weren't approved for the food supply. Aldis, Tesco and the usual suspects were enslaved. Anyway, horses might be in short supply in Russia.
