Gaza will feature at the summit meeting, but only as a minor player in a show meant to summon Washington so that it blocks the Israeli threat. In the view of the summit's participants, the Israeli attack in Qatar showed its neighbors and other countries in the region that the hostage deal, the campaign against Hamas and the conquest of the Gaza Strip are placing them under a concrete threat, from which even their status as American allies affords no protection. Previous summit meetings, the first of which took place in November 2023 and the second a year later, yielded lofty declarations with multiple clauses but few actions. Haaretz
